Bae Doona has been tapped to serve on the jury of the Berlin International Film Festival, one of the world’s “Big Three” film festivals.

On Jan. 28 (local time), the Berlinale announced its six-member jury, led by president Wim Wenders. Joining the panel are Bae; Polish producer Ewa Puszczyńska; American filmmaker Reinaldo Marcus Green; Japanese director Hikari; Nepalese auteur Min Bahadur Bham; and Indian film preservationist Shivendra Singh Dungarpur. The group will judge the Competition titles.

Introducing Bae, the festival praised her as “one of South Korea’s leading actors,” noting her accolades including the Blue Dragon Film Awards’ Best New Actress and the Asian Film Awards’ Best Actress. International audiences know her from the Wachowskis’ "Cloud Atlas" and "Jupiter Ascending," as well as Netflix’s "Sense8."

Bae is only the third Korean creative to sit on the Berlinale Competition jury, following actor Lee Young-ae in 2006 and director Bong Joon-ho in 2015.

Throughout the festival, the jury will evaluate 22 Competition titles and reveal the winners ― including the Golden Bear and Silver Bears ― at the closing ceremony.

The 76th Berlin International Film Festival runs Feb. 12-22 in Berlin. From Korea, Hong Sangsoo’s "The Day She Returns" will screen in Panorama, Jeong Ji-young’s "My Name" in Forum, and Yoo Jae-in’s feature debut "En Route To" in Generation 14plus.
