Ha Jung-woo’s fourth film as a director, "The People Upstairs", debuted on home platforms and shot straight to No. 1 on the online box office charts.

Launching Jan. 15 on IPTV and cable TV VOD, "The People Upstairs" immediately topped daily and weekly movie sales across major platforms, continuing the hot streak it built in theaters. The comedy previously spent three consecutive weeks at No. 1 at the Korean box office and drew roughly 550,000 admissions ― momentum that’s now carried over to living rooms.

Its rise to the top comes courtesy of a delightfully naughty premise ― nightly “adult” noises from upstairs that spark a dinner between two couples ― and a breezy, lived-in ensemble featuring Ha Jung-woo, Kong Hyo-jin, Kim Dong-wook and Lee Hanee. Viewers are calling it “a riot of off-the-wall banter” and “a wildly witty, adults-only romp.”

"The People Upstairs" is now available on IPTV (Genie TV, B tv, U+tv) as well as Coupang Play, Wavve, Watcha and Apple TV+.

The film follows an upstairs couple (Ha Jung-woo and Lee Hanee) and the downstairs pair (Kong Hyo-jin and Kim Dong-wook) whose one long, awkward dinner spirals into an unpredictable night. The foursome’s comic chemistry pops, and Ha’s direction shows a new level of polish and swagger.
