James Cameron is tipping his hat to Korean moviegoers for powering the run of "Avatar: Fire and Ash" ― and for the passionate conversations the film has sparked.
In a video released on the 27th, the filmmaker greets Korean audiences and shares his appreciation. “We’ve heard how many of you in Korea embraced and enjoyed 'Avatar: Fire and Ash.' On behalf of myself and the entire 'Avatar' team, thank you,” Cameron says, adding that Korean fans “dive deep into the world and bring so many thoughtful interpretations,” which he found especially striking.
He closes by asking fans to keep supporting the film through its final stretch and signs off with a warm “gamsahamnida” in Korean.
Set after the death of Jake and Neytiri’s firstborn, Neteyam, "Avatar: Fire and Ash" finds the Sully family in mourning when the Ash People, led by Varang, enter the picture ― unleashing an even greater threat across a Pandora shrouded in fire and ash. The film is nearing 1.4 billion dollars worldwide and, after opening in Korea on December 17, has drawn 6.47 million admissions to date.
