Led by Koo Kyo-hwan and Moon Ga-young, the romance film "Once We Were Us" has crossed 2 million admissions―marking the strongest performance for a melodrama in seven years.

As of 7 a.m. on Monday, the 26th, "Once We Were Us" reached a cumulative 2,001,032 moviegoers. The film has now outpaced "Decision to Leave"s 1.91 million tally from 2022 and stands as the biggest romance box-office hit since 2019’s "Crazy Romance."

After a late surge that kicked off its second weekend, "Once We Were Us" climbed to No. 1 at the box office, powered by word of mouth. It has held the top spot for three consecutive weekends and has ruled No. 1 for 15 straight days, cementing its reign.

To celebrate the 2 million milestone, stars Koo Kyo-hwan and Moon Ga-young joined director Kim Do-young and actors Kim Seo-won and Kim So-yul for a commemorative photo. Leaning against the story’s symbolic sofa―tied to Eun-ho and Jeong-won’s love and faded memories―they thanked moviegoers with a heartfelt, “To the 2 million viewers, thank you!”

"Once We Were Us" follows Eun-ho (Koo) and Jeong-won (Moon), former lovers who reunite by chance a decade later and trace the echoes of their past. The film is a remake of the Chinese hit "Us and Them."
