Riding the surprise resurgence of his track "Drowning" while serving in the military, WOODZ is making his acting debut as the lead of a new film―just ahead of his upcoming full-length album.

Inspired by the singer’s own autobiographical essay, the mystery short "Slide Strum Mute" follows Woo-jin, who, after failing an audition one night, plays a broken guitar left by a stranger and hurtles through a cursed stretch of time fueled by raw desire. Having proved his explosive range with the self-written "Drowning," WOODZ now steps into Woo-jin―a man racing after temptation when an irresistible opportunity appears―promising a fresh screen presence and grounded performance.

The film co-stars Justin H. Min ("After Yang") and Jeong Hoe-rin ("Merely Known as Something Else"). The project is produced by OS earth, the creative production house led by electronic music producer and film/commercial music director Moon I-rang. It’s directed by Park Se-young, who drew attention with a trio of awards at the 2022 Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival, the Grand Prize at the Seoul Independent Film Festival, and selections at Berlinale Critics’ Week, Sitges, and the Torino Film Festival.

"'Slide Strum Mute' is a love letter to the sensations of genre cinema―and a playground for new experiments within it," Park says. "I wanted to fill the screen with imperfect, racing impulses and those too-much, overflowing moments of emotion."

Running 59 minutes, "Slide Strum Mute" pushes past standard music videos and concept photos to blur the line between music and film. It opens on the 26th of next month at CGV locations and major art-house theaters.
