Actor Kim Hye-yoon is back on the small screen with "No Tail to Tell", her first series since "Lovely Runner".

At the SBS press conference for the new Friday-Saturday drama on Jan. 16 at SBS headquarters in Mok-dong, Seoul, Kim said, “I’m half excited and half nervous. I hope viewers enjoy it,” sharing the jitters of unveiling a new project 20 months after "Lovely Runner".

"No Tail to Tell" is a madcap, fate-bending fantasy romance about Eun-ho (Kim Hye-yoon), a Gen Z nine-tailed fox who wants nothing to do with becoming human, and Kang Si-yeol (Lomon), a man overflowing with self-love. Kim plays Eun-ho, a glam, no-apologies gumiho who has spent centuries avoiding both good deeds (in case they tip her toward humanity) and truly bad ones (to protect her thousand-year powers)―until an unexpected incident upends her immortal plans.

Riding the breakout buzz of 2024’s "Lovely Runner", Kim fielded a flurry of offers before zeroing in on this series. “When I choose a project, I look for a character you haven’t seen from me,” she said. “Eun-ho is bold and flamboyant―totally different from Sol in 'Lovely Runner'. I felt this role would set a clear contrast.”

As an actual member of Gen Z, Kim also sees overlap with her new alter ego. “Gen Z really values personal happiness―how to find it and amplify it,” she noted. “Eun-ho and I share that. I’m focused on finding my own happiness and making it bigger.”

K-dramas have long been fascinated by gumihos, previously portrayed by stars like Go So-young, Kim Tae-hee, and Shin Mina. Kim now puts her own spin on the legend. “The gumiho I grew up with eats nine human livers to become human,” she joked. “Eun-ho rejects humanity and wants to live forever as a gumiho. That’s her biggest twist―she’s not your typical nine-tailed fox.”

To amplify Eun-ho’s presence, Kim leaned into high-impact styling. “We went all out―hair, wardrobe, makeup,” she said. “I’ve never dressed this extravagantly for a role. Expect Eun-ho to be visually dazzling.”

"No Tail to Tell", with Kim Hye-yoon as a scene-stealing gumiho, follows "Taxi Driver 3" and premieres tonight at 9:50 p.m. on SBS.
