The producers of "Kick a Goal" revealed the celebrities they’re eager to recruit as players.
During a media day video released via online streaming on the morning of the 13th, PD Kwon Hyeong-gu was asked which rookies he wants on the show and name-checked FIFTY FIFTY member CHANELLE MOON. “We’re on great terms and waiting for the right moment,” he said, adding, “We’ve been giving CHANELLE MOON some extra attention in hopes of bringing her onto the squad.”
Kwon noted that more celebrities are into soccer than you’d think. “Keum Sae-rok, Uie, and Seol In-ah are all on our radar―we’re not turning that signal off,” he joked.
Writer Jang Jeong-hee broke down the rookie casting process: “Some reach out through their agencies or personally because they want to join 'Kick a Goal', and we also make first moves after seeing clips of them playing. We’ve held low-key auditions on a rolling basis, but this time we opened it up―and many who’d shown interest before came back to apply.”
She added, “It’s clear the love for soccer hasn’t faded―putting this season together really proved that.”
For the new season, the show has overhauled its format: aside from FC Bulnabi, FC Anaconda, and FC Gavengers, which are in rebuild mode, eight teams will compete under a seven-players-per-team system. Some players transferred, new rookies joined, and there’s a fresh rule requiring all seven players to see the field. The shake-up aims to preserve each team’s identity while leveling the competition.
"Kick a Goal" returns on the 14th at 9 p.m. The premiere opens the second G League with FC Top Girl Movement facing off against FC Balladream.
