Lee Byung-hun’s bid for a first-ever Golden Globe came up short.

At the 83rd Golden Globes, held Sept. 12 (KST) at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, the actor was nominated for Best Actor in a Motion Picture ― Musical or Comedy but did not prevail. The trophy went to Timothee Chalamet for his scene-stealing turn in “Marty Supreme.”

In “No Other Choice,” Lee portrays Mansoo, a laid-off paper mill worker and devoted father, delivering a grounded, quietly powerful performance.

Beyond Best Actor, “No Other Choice” is also in the hunt for Best Motion Picture ― Musical or Comedy and Best Non-English Language Film. While Lee walked away empty-handed, the film could still have its moment on the Globes stage.
