Netflix has officially greenlit the new series "Beauty in the Beast" (working title), unveiling a fresh-faced trio in the lead: Kim Minju, Lomon and Moon Sang-min.
The coming-of-age fantasy romance centers on Min-su, a college freshman harboring a life-or-death secret: when emotions surge, she transforms into a wolf. Determined to blend in, Min-su has spent years mastering self-control―until campus life throws her into the orbit of Hae-jun, an upperclassman, and Do-ha, a free-spirited werewolf who lives exactly the way she’s been told not to.
Kim Minju ("Hear Me: Our Summer", "Undercover High School," "Connection") steps into the role of Ha Min-su, a curious, big-dreaming student who longs for an ordinary life despite the extraordinary ability she must keep under wraps.
Moon Sang-min ("Cinderella at 2AM," "Wedding Impossible," "Under the Queen's Umbrella") plays Hae-jun, Min-su’s senior. With a stern resting face and piercing gaze, he looks intimidating at first―but his gentle side has earned him the “big puppy” nickname. He normally keeps to himself, yet he can’t help but notice Min-su, whose behavior around him is… oddly unpredictable.
Lomon ("All of Us Are Dead," "Family Matters," "Branding in Seongsu") co-stars as Do-ha, a laid-back werewolf who acts first and thinks later. Min-su’s tightly bottled emotions both frustrate him and make him weirdly protective.
"Beauty in the Beast" is directed by Jin Hyuk, known for nuanced character work and sleek visuals in "The Tale of Lady Ok," "Sisyphus: The Myth" and "Legend of the Blue Sea." The script comes from Jin Han-sae, the bold voice behind Netflix’s "Extracurricular" and "Glitch." Studio 329, currently producing the buzzy "How to Become a Landlord in Korea" (working title) and previously behind Netflix’s "Extracurricular" and the drama "Crime Puzzle," will produce the series.
