Singer Sohyang, 47, has spoken up and apologized after criticism over her live vocals during a recent TV performance.

Known for her powerhouse live delivery, Sohyang took the stage on December 31 at Seoul’s Myeong-dong Square for KBS’ 2026 Countdown Show, performing "Golden" from the "KPop Demon Hunters" soundtrack alongside Youngbin and HYNN. But shortly after the broadcast, viewers voiced concerns about her opening pitch and the trio’s blend.

Many felt her first note came in a touch too high, throwing off the balance. While she settled in and showcased her signature belt by the end, the early instability read as dissonant to some watching live.

Expectations were especially high after Sohyang’s earlier "Golden" live on her YouTube channel drew raves, making the televised version feel underwhelming by comparison for some fans.

On Instagram, a few sharp comments accused her of “just screaming” and being “drunk on high notes.” Sohyang personally replied to one post, writing, “I know―I ruined it. I’m disappointed too,” calmly owning the misstep.

On January 4, she elaborated in the description of a new video on her YouTube channel. “Golden… I really didn’t do well,” she began, adding, “When I chase my own ambition, I can only fall short. This reminded me to stay humble and be used as the Lord’s instrument,” signaling she intends to turn the moment into growth grounded in her faith.
