Lee Kyung-kyu accepted the Lifetime Achievement Award―and immediately lobbied to retire it―with a string of punchlines that brought the house down.

At the 2025 SBS Entertainment Awards, broadcast live from SBS Prism Tower in Sangam, Seoul, on Dec. 30 at 8:50 p.m., Lee was honored with the show’s Lifetime Achievement Award.

Taking the mic, he opened with a mock scold: “Can we turn the music down? How am I supposed to give a speech with a soundtrack?”

He kept the bit going, declaring, “The real crown jewel of the Entertainment Awards is the Lifetime Achievement. It should come after the Grand Prize, but we’re announcing it early for time. I bet this part will pull the highest ratings.”

Lee then playfully outlined what it takes to win: “First, you’ve got to work more than 40 years without major trouble. You should have at least one Grand Prize at the network. Most important is character―good character. That’s why I’m your 2025 honoree.”

He wrapped with one last zinger: “I wondered who could take it next year, and honestly, no one comes to mind. So let’s end it here. I’ll be the last one―abolish the Lifetime Achievement Award!” The gag drew big laughs from the audience.
