Jun Hyun-moo’s team is pushing back against “IV drip in the car” accusations ― and they’re bringing paperwork. The TV host’s agency released medical records to refute the claims.
As a broader furor over questionable IV treatments roiled Korean entertainment circles and old footage of Jun resurfaced, his label dropped documentation from nine years ago to set the record straight.
In a statement on Dec. 23, SM C&C said the matter dates back nearly a decade and required Jun to obtain records directly from the hospital, adding that it is sharing additional documentation to clarify the timeline and care.
According to the agency, the materials include: copies of medical charts confirming hospital visits on Jan. 14, 20 and 26, 2016; official hospital receipts for those dates; and confirmation that medical waste from an IV was returned per staff instructions after treatment.
SM C&C says Jun was treated for pharyngitis, laryngitis and gastroesophageal reflux with antibiotics, anti-inflammatories and gastrointestinal meds, and that the IV was part of physician-directed care to support that treatment.
“These records confirm the care was a lawful continuation of treatment provided at a medical facility under medical supervision,” the company said, calling current allegations inaccurate and pledging full cooperation with any fact-finding by authorities.
The controversy reignited after a 2016 episode of MBC’s variety show "I Live Alone" ― featuring Jun receiving an IV while in transit ― began circulating again online.
A complainant argued that administering an IV in a vehicle could violate Korea’s Medical Service Act, and police in Seoul’s Gangnam district have accepted the complaint and begun a preliminary review.
Jun’s side previously stated he received an exam and prescriptions at the hospital before filming and, due to scheduling, completed part of the treatment while traveling under a doctor’s guidance. The agency emphasized he did not summon medical staff for a house call nor receive any illegal procedures.
