Disney’s animated sequel "Zootopia 2" has become the first film released in Korea this year to top 6 million admissions.

According to the Korean Film Council’s box-office tracker, the film drew 620,257 moviegoers nationwide from Dec. 19-21, lifting its cumulative total to 6,333,669.

Opening on Nov. 26 in Korea, "Zootopia 2" reached the 6 million mark in just 25 days. It’s the first title in roughly 14 months to cross that threshold domestically, following "I, the Executioner" (released September 2024).

It now sits alongside "Frozen II" (2019), "Frozen" (2014), "Inside Out 2" (2024) and "Elemental" (2023) in Korea’s all-time Top 5 for animated films―making the entire Top 5 a Disney and Pixar sweep.

Before "Zootopia 2" opened, the year’s box-office leader in Korea was "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba ― Infinity Castle" (5.68 million admissions). Since its debut, the Disney sequel has raced to No. 1―the first Disney animated feature to claim the year’s top spot in Korea. It has also crossed 1.1 billion dollars worldwide, ranking as 2025’s highest-grossing Hollywood release globally.

"Avatar: Fire and Ash," which launched shortly after, is rapidly gaining with 1.74 million admissions to date, but overtaking "Zootopia 2" before year’s end looks unlikely.
