Netflix has unveiled the teaser poster and first trailer for 'Can This Love Be Translated?', starring Kim Seonho and Go Younjung.
The rom-com follows multilingual interpreter Joo Hojin (Kim Seonho) after he’s assigned to global A-lister Cha Mu-hee (Go Younjung), sparking an unpredictable, opposites-attract romance. The series unites hitmakers the Hong Sisters―Hong Jung-eun and Hong Mi-ran (Alchemy of Souls, Hotel del Luna, The Greatest Love, The Master’s Sun)―with director Yoo Young-eun (Bloody Heart).
On Dec. 18, Netflix teased the pair’s fluttery chemistry with a poster-and-teaser combo that hints at humor, heart, and high stakes.
In the poster, Hojin translates while Mu-hee fields questions on camera. Hojin, fluent in everything from English and Japanese to Italian, locks in on Mu-hee’s every word as the newly minted global superstar answers with a hint of nerves―setting a soft, romantic mood and raising curiosity about where their connection is headed.
The tagline―“The Hardest Language Is Yours”―suggests that while words can be translated, the feelings behind them are much trickier to decode.
The teaser spotlights the push-pull between a composed Hojin and a delightfully unpredictable Mu-hee, promising crackling banter from two total opposites. It also introduces Hiro (played by Sota Fukushi), often dubbed Japan’s “prince of romance,” whose presence hints at a complicated triangle. When Hojin admits, “I don’t think I fully understand what that person is saying,” and hesitates to translate Hiro’s confession, it’s clear this love story won’t be simple.
Sweeping shots―from an aurora-lit sky and ancient castles to glassy lakes―showcase shooting across Italy, Canada, and Japan, teasing a globe-trotting romance with plenty of eye candy.
Along with Kim Seonho and Go Younjung’s fizzy chemistry, the lush overseas locations set 'Can This Love Be Translated?' up to capture both hearts and eyeballs when it premieres Jan. 16 on Netflix.
