Yu Jae-seok helmed 'You Quiz on the Block' without co-host Cho Sae-ho.
The Dec. 17 episode of tvN’s 'You Quiz on the Block' (You Quiz) featured Yoo Gyu-jin, head of a social media suicide-prevention monitoring team; actor Kim Da Mi; child star Kim Seol, known as Jin-ju from Reply 1988; and Detective Kim Jang-soo, who cracked the Sinjeong-dong serial murder case.
Cho Sae-ho, who has recently faced allegations of ties to organized crime, has denied the claims but stepped down from his regular programs. Explaining his decision to leave 'You Quiz,' he said the show’s heart is “listening closely and empathizing with guests,” and that in his current situation he didn’t feel he could fully carry that responsibility.
On this week’s broadcast, Cho appeared as host in every segment except Detective Kim Jang-soo’s ― footage recorded before his exit. Even so, producers leaned on wide shots and reaction cutaways to minimize his screen time.
For Detective Kim Jang-soo’s segment, Yu Jae-seok ran the show solo. Before bringing the guest on, he addressed the change: “Cho Sae-ho is leaving 'You Quiz' because of what happened,” Yu told viewers. “We’ve been together a long time, and it feels bittersweet to be hosting alone today. As he himself said, I hope this becomes a meaningful time for him to reflect.”
There’s still unaired 'You Quiz' footage featuring Cho. A teaser at the end of the episode previewed webtoon creator Kim Poong, dentist Park Yoon-kyu, Moon Yoo-seok, and Stray Kids’ Felix ― with Cho appearing in the segments with Kim Poong and Park Yoon-kyu.
