Jo Sung-hwan opened up about the real reason his wife felt let down ― and why he’s been laser-focused on soccer.

On the Dec. 8 episode of SBS’ "Same Bed, Different Dreams 2", singer Navi and her husband, Jo Sung-hwan, made their debut as the show’s newest couple.

During the episode, Navi revealed she’s pregnant with their second child ― a baby girl whose nickname is “Berry” ― drawing cheers from the panel.

As the conversation turned to their marriage, the panelists quickly picked up on why Navi has felt hurt and why she’s been asking for more help. “Because I’m the strong one, he always thinks I’m fine,” she said, voicing her frustration with her husband.

What really stung, Navi admitted, was that Jo seemed to think about nothing but his soccer school. When he replied with a cheeky, “I’ll try harder ― Navi, keep up the good work,” it only made her angrier.

She added that beyond running the soccer school, Jo is signed up for four different amateur soccer clubs. After work, he still plays every other day ― and often stays out late for team dinners.

The panel sympathized, noting that his club outings can feel like an extension of work ― even if it’s not a great look at home.

Fed up, Navi drew a line: half-joking that he’d be in trouble if she “walked away,” then pressing him to stop club play until Berry turns 2 ― about two and a half years. If he couldn’t do it, she said, she’d take it up with the club presidents herself. Jo agreed to scale back for his wife and daughter.

But little changed. After class one night, Jo went off the grid, and Navi combed his usual haunts to track him down.

She eventually found him at a year-end meetup for their apartment complex’s soccer club ― the group in matching pink vests. “This is a ‘meeting’?” she asked. A member explained they were combining a holiday dinner with planning for the year ahead.

Navi laid out why she wanted Jo to step back for now, telling the group to keep things to social media for the time being and avoid in-person hangouts.

The members understood where Navi was coming from and nudged Jo to do better ― prompting him to reflect.

Jo then shared why he’s been All In on the soccer school. “I owe so much to my wife,” he said. “We were only able to open the school because she covered all the costs.”

“Because I’m so grateful, I wanted to repay her as soon as possible ― so I went All In on the school. I’m working hard to make money and support our family,” he continued.

Recognizing he hadn’t fully considered Navi’s feelings, Jo promised to step up, leaving viewers curious to see if real change is coming.
