Singer-artist Solbi (Kwon Ji-an) has made her debut as a drama writer with a short-form series.
Written by Solbi, "My Ex Is a Top Star" (literal title) premiered Dec. 2 on the global short-form platform Shotcha. The project was produced under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Creative Content Agency’s 2025 AI Content (Flagship) Production Support Program.
The fantasy romance ― developed over nearly three years ― follows a woman who slips between reality and a dreamscape where a magic candle grants desires, charting her growth, conflicts, and a rekindled spark with her A-list ex while confronting lost dreams and her truest self.
After debuting as a singer, Solbi built a distinct creative universe as a painter and author through exhibitions at home and abroad and a string of publications. Now she’s expanding into screenwriting, aiming to balance mainstream appeal with experimentation ― a move that further cements her status as a bona fide multi-hyphenate creator.
Billed as the first Korean project to enlist an AI assistant writer, the series incorporates WonderStory to heighten immersion. AI and virtual production technology developed by producer Of Course Co. combine with Solbi’s script for a distinctive synergy. Director Kim Seung-soo of Mapc Studio leans into the script’s otherworldly tone to amplify its cinematic flair.
"My Ex Is a Top Star" is now streaming on Shotcha.
