“Taxi Driver 3” is keeping fans guessing about whether the ride will continue beyond this season.

At a press conference held Nov. 18 at SBS headquarters in Mok-dong, Seoul, series lead Lee Je-hoon was asked if this chapter would be the last. “I want Rainbow Taxi to be loved for a long time, but wanting it isn’t enough,” he said.

“This season I pushed harder than ever and went in thinking, ‘I’m going to pour everything out.’ If this really is the final run, I hoped viewers would feel that I left every ounce of passion and love on the screen,” he added.

Director Kang Bo-seung, who helms Season 3, noted, “Trilogies often feel complete, so this can look like a finale. We made it as if it were the last, giving it everything we had.”

Teasing the show’s approach, he continued, “Without spoiling too much, as you watch, the number ‘3’ starts to fade. There’s a moment when we return to the core―not about Seasons 1, 2, or 3, but the essence of ‘We are Taxi Driver.’”

Then series elder Kim Eui-sung cut through the hedging with a laugh: “The life of 'Taxi Driver' depends on the condition of Kim Do-gi’s knees. As long as his cartilage holds up, we can keep going forever.”

Based on the hit webtoon, "Taxi Driver" follows the covert cab company Rainbow Taxi and driver Kim Do-gi as they deliver vigilante justice for victims failed by the system. After its breakout first season in 2021, Season 2 arrived in 2023 and peaked at a strong 21 percent in Korea, setting the stage for a highly anticipated third outing two years later.

The Rainbow Five returns intact: Lee Je-hoon (Kim Do-gi), Kim Eui-sung (Jang Sung-cheol), Pyo Ye-jin (Ahn Go-eun), Jang Hyuk-jin (Choi Kyung-gu), and Bae Yoo-ram (Park Jin-eon). Five years in, their one-team chemistry is tighter than family as they soothe victims’ pain and take down villains with cathartic flair.

"Taxi Driver 3" premieres Nov. 21 at 9:50 p.m. KST on SBS, following “Would You Marry Me.”
