Team Bunnies, the NewJeans fan collective, says a complaint alleging the group violated Korea’s Donations Act while raising funds to fight malicious posts has already been resolved.

On the 17th, the group’s admin―who is reportedly a minor―said, “In early 2025, two cases alleging Donations Act violations were filed through the national petition portal and forwarded to prosecutors. We submitted our fundraising breakdowns, receipts, and a full account of events, and offered the same explanation to the Seoul Family Court. The court recognized that the money was used for a legitimate purpose and properly accounted for, and in September―about two months before the story was reported―the matter was closed with Protective Disposition No. 1.”

In Korea’s juvenile system, Protective Disposition No. 1 places a minor under a guardian’s care―the lowest-level protective measure―and it is not a criminal punishment, so no criminal record is created.

The group also said its legal campaign against malicious content targeting NewJeans is still underway.

“Working with our attorneys at Sejong and NewLawyer, we’re continuing to file complaints,” Team Bunnies added. “Recently filed cases have been identified and transferred to local police stations. Among outcomes to date, 41.74% resulted in summary fines, followed by conditional non-prosecution with mandatory education (30.79%) and indictments (20.04%).”
