Singer Bang Ye-dam’s remix album is catching fire in China.
Dropped in late October, the title track “Officially Cool (Vanto Remix)” from his remix project album “newvibe” recently hit No. 1 on NetEase Cloud Music’s Soaring Chart and No. 23 on its New Songs Chart.
Ahead of the release, Bang hosted a “newvibe” listening party in September at Itaewon Stadium in Seoul, giving local fans an early spin. Riding that momentum, he’s opening up new lanes for K-EDM in China and shoring up his status as a global artist.
“newvibe” reimagines Bang’s signature tracks with top Korean house and EDM producers including DJ TPA, Vanto and SUNGYOO. The title cut pairs aespa’s WINTER’s sweet tone with Bang’s distinctive vocals, reworked by global DJ Vanto into a sleek, house-driven groove.
“Lovin’ Ya (TPA Remix)” trades the original’s funky bounce with GRAY for TPA’s slap-house pulse, putting Bang’s vocals front and center.
Closing track “T.M.B (Self-Intro) (SUNGYOO Remix)” blends disco and tech house with Bang’s R&B sensibility, landing in a soulful EDM/R&B sweet spot.
With “newvibe,” Bang broadens his musical palette and earns praise for pushing K-EDM forward. All eyes are on his next global move.
Meanwhile, he’s active on JTBC’s sports-variety series "Let’s Play Soccer 4" and SBS’s "The Listen," and he’ll drop a stylish new single under his alter ego DIMO REX on Nov. 14.
