As it edges toward the 100,000-admission milestone, the film "The World of Love" is hitting the road with a nationwide post-screening Q&A tour led by writer-director Yoon Ga-eun.
Now in its fourth week in theaters, Yoon will meet audiences across Korea. The tour kicks off Nov. 12 at 7:30 p.m. at Megabox Coex in Seoul, where Yoon will join director Bong Joon-ho and film critic Kim Hye-ri for an in-depth conversation following the screening.
Bong, who famously cast Jang Hye-jin in Parasite after seeing Yoon’s "The World of Us," has long championed the filmmaker. After catching her sophomore feature "The House of Us," he hailed Yoon as “one of the three masters”―alongside Abbas Kiarostami and Koreeda Hirokazu―for the way she brings child actors to life on screen. Fans are eager to hear his read on "The World of Love".
On Nov. 13, after the 6 p.m. screening at Busan Cinema Center, Yoon will sit down for a Q&A with critic Ok Mi-na. On Nov. 15 at 4 p.m., following a screening at Jeonju Digital Independent Cinema, Yoon will be joined by Choi Jin-young, director of "The Slug", for a conversation with local moviegoers.
The tour continues Nov. 16 at 3:30 p.m. at Gwangju Theater with Kim Hee-jung ("Where Would You Like to Go?"), and Nov. 20 at 7 p.m. at Gangneung Independent Art Theater Shinyoung with Lim Oh-jeong, director of Hail to Hell.
"The World of Love" follows Joo-in, an enigmatic 18-year-old high schooler who refuses to sign a petition every other student supports―and soon starts receiving cryptic notes that upend her world. Since opening Oct. 22, the film has drawn 92,000 admissions as of Nov. 10 and is on track to cross the 100,000 mark.
