The cast put their comedy chops on full display with a round of n-line acrostics.
On the Nov. 9 episode of SBS’s "Running Man", the “Collect ’Em All ― Fall Literature Club” race took center stage.
Actor Kim Byung-chul and singers SUNMI and MIYEON of I-DLE teamed up with the members for the competition.
In a fall-themed mission built around collecting maple cards from the Korean hwatu deck, the cast split into four teams with the guests. Hitting the “Jangttaeng” jackpot meant prizes for everyone, while drawing the dreaded “Ddonggwang” penalty card triggered a team-wide punishment. Along the way, players could steal or swap cards by nailing quick-hit acrostic poems (two or three lines built on Korean syllables).
Only the first- and second-place teams from an earlier mission earned a lunch spread of grilled cutlassfish (galchi), leaving the others staring longingly from the sidelines.
Feeling for the hungry guests, producers offered a slice of fish to anyone who could crush a two-line acrostic using “galchi.”
HAHA went first with a plea to “share the fish,” but Yoo Jae-suk cut him off with a brisk “Next!”, drawing laughs―and complaints from HAHA, whom Yoo dismissed for having a “grumpy tone.”
SUNMI swooped in with a flirty twist―“Wanna go with me? …to Chiang Mai”―then doubled down with “…to the dentist,” a cheeky one-two that won over the room and earned her a piece of fish.
On the way to the next mission, HAHA challenged the crew who’d mocked him to try their own two-liners. Yoo Jae-suk answered with a mock-grand, old-school riff that got booed; only Yang Se-chan buttered him up with praise.
Ji Seok-jin went unexpectedly melancholic: “It’s not my time to go―don’t put me away,” prompting the others to gaze at him with mock sympathy. “It’s not your time yet, hyung,” HAHA teased. “What do you mean, not yet?” Ji snapped back, as Kim Byung-chul deadpanned, “So… is it time, then?” sending everyone into giggles.
When asked to recite a favorite poem, MIYEON shamelessly delivered the hook from I-DLE’s "Queencard" as if it were high art―“I’m hot… I’m a star, star, star; look at me, I’m twerking on the runway”―and the set erupted.
In the final mission, the Yoo Jae-suk-Kim Jong-kook alliance won a card-swap chance and shook up the deck. Trusting his instincts, Kim Jong-kook drew the coveted Jangttaeng and finished first, taking home soy sauce-marinated crab.
With their good cards stripped away, Ji Seok-jin’s team made a last-ditch swap with HAHA’s team―who happened to be holding the Ddonggwang penalty. Of all people, Ji drew it, triggering a punishment for the entire cast.
