Byun Sung-hyun’s latest film "Good News" is off to a strong start on Netflix, landing on the streamer’s global charts in its debut week.

According to Netflix’s data site Tudum, "Good News" entered the Global Top 10 for Non-English Films at No. 9 for the week of Oct. 13?19.

Premiering Oct. 17, the film racked up 1.7 million views in its first three days (Netflix calculates views by dividing total viewing hours by runtime). It also broke into the Top 10 in six markets, including South Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam.

Set in 1970, the movie follows a group determined to bring a hijacked airliner safely to the ground―a fictional spin on the Yodogo hijacking of Japan Airlines Flight 351. It’s Byun’s second Netflix feature after "Kill Boksoon" and stars Seol Kyung-gu, Hong Kyung and Ryu Seung-bum, alongside Japan’s Yamada Takayuki and Kasamatsu Sho.
