The film "Boss" ruled South Korea's box office across the extended Chuseok holiday corridor, spanning Oct. 3 to 12.
With a rare 10-day break fueling moviegoing, "Boss" opened at No. 1 on Oct. 3 and held the crown for eight straight days, drawing 2,036,589 admissions to date. It crossed 1 million tickets in five days and 2 million in ten.
On its second weekend (Oct. 11-12), however, it ceded the top spot to Japan's "Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc." As it heads into its third frame, the question is whether "Boss" can reclaim No. 1; with strong legs, it could crack the 3 million mark.
"Boss" is a comedic action caper about underlings locked in a cutthroat contest to "graciously" pass the top job to one another ahead of a pivotal vote. The film stars Jo Woo-jin, Jung Kyung-ho, Park Ji-hwan, and Lee Kyu-hyung.
