Netflix has officially set production on new series "Grand Galaxy Hotel" and unveiled a starry lineup: Lee Do-hyun, Shin Si-a, Lee Soo-hyuk and Lee Soo-hyun.
Billed as a male-led riff on 2019’s hit "Hotel del Luna" (starring IU and Yeo Jin-goo), "Grand Galaxy Hotel" follows a newly arrived owner of a luxe waystation for souls and a fearless human general manager who isn’t afraid of ghosts. Together, they navigate otherworldly guests and untold secrets in a place famed for delivering comfort to the departed―with five-star service to match.
The story kicks off when the long-standing owner of the world’s most renowned memorial hotel for the dead suddenly vanishes. As spirits check in with wildly different backstories, the series weaves mysteries that span this world and the next, promising a blend of heart, humor and supernatural intrigue.
The creative pedigree is another draw. The Hong Sisters―writers Hong Jung-eun and Hong Mi-ran, beloved for building bold worlds and memorable characters in "Sassy Girl Chun-hyang," "My Girlfriend Is a Gumiho," "The Greatest Love," "Master’s Sun" and "Alchemy of Souls"―penned the script. Director Oh Choong-hwan ("The Doctors," "While You Were Sleeping," "Start-Up," "Castaway Diva" and Netflix’s "Melo Movie") is at the helm. The writer-director duo reunites after "Hotel del Luna", raising anticipation for their next otherworldly outing.
Lee Do-hyun leads as Eunha, the new boss drafted in after the hotel’s owner disappears without a trace. Taciturn and harboring a shadowy past, Eunha steps into a power vacuum―only to find the living and the dead aren’t his only problems. "Grand Galaxy Hotel" also marks Lee’s reunion with the Hong Sisters and director Oh following "Hotel del Luna".
Shin Si-a plays Sang-soon, the hotel’s no-nonsense general manager―and its only human staffer. Armed with unflappable professionalism and disarming people skills, she keeps VIPs and vexed spirits alike in line.
Lee Soo-hyuk takes on Baek-gi, a reaper tasked with scrubbing away the remnants of malevolent spirits. Expect his free-spirited edge to cut through the gloom. Lee Soo-hyun portrays Seok-san, a mysterious woman who exudes a chilling, dangerous allure―and may be hiding more than a few secrets.
