Yoon Min-soo spent the day sorting through the last of his shared belongings with his ex-wife, Yoon Hoo’s mom.
On the Oct. 12 episode of SBS’s "My Little Old Boy", the singer and his former spouse calmly divided up household items as they prepared for a new chapter apart.
When they got to the family photos, the mood softened. After a pause, they decided to leave the pictures in their son Yoon Hoo’s room ― a choice that left Yoon Min-soo’s mother visibly emotional as she watched from the sidelines.
With most of the packing done, the two sat down to eat together. While Yoon Min-soo cooked, his ex pulled out a box and quietly opened their wedding album. “We looked good,” she said with a wistful smile before closing it again.
“This is probably the last time I’m cooking for you,” Yoon noted. She replied, “When Hoo comes by later, invite us over.”
They realized it was their first meal alone since before the pandemic, slipping into an easy conversation about what comes next ― and rooting for each other as they learn to stand on their own.
Carefully, Yoon suggested she stay in their current home. “I asked Hoo,” he shared. “This was the first place we bought, and the first time he had his own room. It means something.” She said she’d think it over.
Watching them eat, Yoon’s mother couldn’t hide her feelings: “Can’t you just live like that?” she asked, wistfully.
The pair admitted that going nearly a decade without a simple meal together said a lot about the distance that grew between them.
Before the move, Yoon floated the idea of a lighthearted “divorce party” with close friends. “Let’s have a big dinner and tell everyone, ‘Don’t end up like us,’” he joked.
They also addressed rumors of a sham divorce, sparked by a post-split trip they took with Hoo. That wasn’t the case, they clarified ― they’re simply committed to co-parenting their son the best they can.
“Honestly, it didn’t feel real even after we signed the papers,” Yoon admitted. “But packing up to move made it sink in.” His ex-wife added, “Not having to wait up for someone feels freeing. Waiting was always hard for me.”
She also shared a lingering guilt about their son: “I feel like I went from being the person who protected him to someone he has to protect.”
They agreed to attend Yoon Hoo’s future graduation together and to keep showing up as parents, no matter what.
In the end, they exchanged apologies ― and wished each other well on the road ahead.
