Netflix’s variety hit "Crime Scene Zero" is cranking up the sleuthing―and the dopamine―for viewers around the world.
The role-playing mystery game series, where players become suspects and detectives to smoke out the culprit hiding in plain sight, launched to rave reactions on Sept. 24. Episodes 1-4 delivered a twisty “abandoned hospital” murder that set off everyone’s detective instincts, followed by a funeral-home case tied to a secret family history that brought full-on soap-opera chaos.
Now, Episodes 5-8, arriving today (Sept. 30), dive into the Hangang Bridge mystery and a high-stakes case set in the city’s nightlife district.
In preview stills, the Hangang Bridge set steals the spotlight with its jaw-dropping scale. The “Hangang Bridge Murder” throws in an unexpected curveball that wipes the board clean, sending every theory back to square one. Actor Hwang In Youp appears as a mysterious conglomerate heir, turning up the heat in a fierce round of deduction with the players.
The “Nightlife District Murder,” involving an unidentified victim, becomes a battle of wits as players go all-in to shatter alibis. All eyes are also on Ha Seok-jin, who slips into the role of an attorney with the unforgettable name Ha Geum-soo.
Director Yoon Hyun-joon says the “Hangang Bridge Murder” is “a new kind of swing, both in scale and story―an episode that pulls you straight into the mystery.” As for the nightlife case, he teases “blocking battles on a Dogville-style stage set, and a relentless deduction process that narrows the suspect pool and delivers real catharsis.”
With this global-facing season, "Crime Scene Zero" doubles down on the franchise’s core while leveling up the production. Its singular blend of deduction and role-play, the character work from its legendary players, and ever-more intricate tricks inside bigger, bolder cases are winning over longtime fans and newcomers alike.
Episodes 5-8 of "Crime Scene Zero" premiere today at 4 p.m. KST.
