Seoul’s Songpa Police Station says the incident unfolded around 3:40 a.m. on Sept. 21 after officers responded to a report of a suspected drunk driver. Police pursued a vehicle driven by a man in his 30s, identified by local media only as “A.” After a roughly 12-kilometer chase from Gangnam to Songpa, he stopped in the middle of the road and fled on foot with his female passenger.
Exclusive CCTV footage aired by MBN shows the YouTuber grabbing the woman’s hand and sprinting away as officers close in. He was caught after running about 300 meters, police said. At the scene, officers repeatedly requested a breath test, which he refused for more than 20 minutes, leading to his arrest on suspicion of violating Korea’s Road Traffic Act for refusing a breathalyzer.
Under Korean law, refusing a breath test is treated the same as driving with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.20% or higher. A conviction can bring one to five years in prison or fines ranging from 5 million to 20 million won, and an immediate license revocation.
The influencer, who rose to fame with mukbang (eating-show) videos and has participated in brand promotions, still has his existing content live on YouTube and social media as of press time.
