Netflix’s unscripted mystery format "Crime Scene Zero" makes its debut today.

The first four episodes drop at 4 p.m. KST on Netflix. Ahead of the premiere, producers teased three big reasons mystery fans should tune in.

# The Legendary Role-Play Whodunit Meets Netflix

A fresh season of the pioneering role-play mystery variety hit Crime Scene, "Crime Scene Zero" once again casts players as suspects and detectives racing to unmask the killer hiding in plain sight.

Showrunner PD Yoon Hyun-joon says the team went “back to basics,” zeroing in on the pure thrill of deduction while leveling up the show’s scope and serving up juicier cases. Partnering with Netflix opened the door to bolder swings, he adds, pointing to the premiere as a statement episode that captures the franchise’s core―and packs big-scale surprises and twists to prove Crime Scene is back in a major way.

# Veteran Players Level Up, High-Caliber Guests Go Full Method

Franchise “legends” Jang Jin, Park Ji-yoon, Jang Dong-min, Kim Ji-hoon, and ANYUJIN return for a seasoned, high-stakes deduction showdown. Their work goes beyond in-character improv: according to Yoon, the team meticulously built out victims’ and suspects’ backstories so the cast could fully inhabit their roles―then refined each persona with the players, letting characters evolve organically on set.

Scene-stealing guest stars are back, too. Park Sung-woong, Joo Hyun-young, Hwang In-youp, Ha Seok-jin, and Jeon So-min jump in with commitment that promises to upend the game in unexpected ways. “We revived the guest system to inject true unpredictability―textures even our veteran players can’t create,” says Yoon, teasing guests who “took to their characters like ducks to water” and delivered fierce, synergistic play. He adds that episode two stacks twist upon twist―and showcases cast chemistry hitting its stride―making the first week a must-watch.

# Original DNA Intact, Scale Evolved: Sharper Tricks, Wilder Cases

From sets to gadgets to sheer scope, the production has been upgraded across the board. Elaborate tricks and audacious, imagination-bending cases are designed to maximize that armchair-detective rush for both players and viewers. With “back-to-basics” and “evolution” as guiding pillars, Yoon says the team built immersive crime scenes so the cast could fully lock in―promising scale the series has never attempted before, with locations you wouldn’t expect to see on a TV set.

Each episode unleashes a new, unpredictable case―set everywhere from an abandoned hospital to a Han River bridge to a casino―backed by deep research and expert consultation that took at least one to two months per episode.

"Crime Scene Zero" rolls out over three weeks, exclusively on Netflix: episodes 1-4 on Sept. 23, episodes 5-8 on Sept. 30, and episodes 9-10 on Oct. 7, all dropping Tuesdays.
