Disney+ has set Nov. 5 for the premiere of its new original series “The Manipulated”, led by Ji Chang-wook and D.O., and unveiled a striking teaser poster teasing “A life, shattered.”
The action drama follows Tae-jung (Ji), an ordinary man whose world implodes after he’s falsely swept up in a brutal crime and sent to prison. When he learns the ordeal was orchestrated by a shadowy figure named Yohan (Do), he launches a relentless plan for revenge.
The teaser poster spotlights the duo in a visceral face-off, its stark black-and-white palette amplifying the clash. With fury in his eyes and a fist flying toward Yohan, Tae-jung looks like a man whose life has been broken into pieces overnight―raising the question of what he’ll do next, and how far he’ll go.
Yohan, blocking the punch with a chilling grin, meets Tae-jung’s desperation with unnerving calm―signaling a foe who’s anything but easy to topple.
Ji Chang-wook’s Tae-jung charts a layered emotional arc, from wronged everyman to a figure transformed by vengeance. D.O. takes on his first full-fledged villain as Yohan, a cold-blooded puppet master who carves up other people’s lives to suit his design―a side of the star audiences haven’t seen.
They’re joined by Kim Jong-soo, Cho Yoon-soo and Lee Kwang-soo, whose dependable turns promise fresh chemistry and added intensity.
“'The Manipulated' is a brisk, visually varied revenge thriller,” Ji says. “There’s a lot to feast your eyes on with the distinctive action set pieces.” D.O. adds, “The script hooked me right away. The pacing is quick, and I’m excited to see how the action and racing sequences come to life.”
"The Manipulated" premieres Wednesday, Nov. 5 on Disney+ with four episodes, followed by two episodes weekly, for a total of 12.
