The first teaser for SBS’s new Friday-Saturday rom-com "Would You Marry Me" spotlights a spectacular meet-awkward between Choi Woo-shik and Jung So-min―setting the stage for a 90-day fake newlywed pact with a luxe “newlywed home” prize on the line.
From writer Lee Ha-na and directors Song Hyun-wook and Hwang In-hyuk, the series premieres Friday, Oct. 10 at 9:50 p.m. KST on SBS, pairing fan-favorite leads Choi and rom-com ace Jung for a chemistry-forward ride.
Choi plays Kim Woo-ju, the impeccably polished sole heir to Myeongsundang, billed as Korea’s first-ever bakery brand. Jung steps in as Yoo Meri, the head of Meri Design―a bride-to-be whose life implodes in one blow after a broken engagement and a housing scam wipe out her dream home, pushing her to the edge and into one wild plan.
In the teaser, Meri lives up to her “refreshingly blunt” reputation in a high-stakes pitch meeting. After discovering her fiance (Seo Beom-jun) is cheating, a heartbroken and drunken Meri crosses paths―by pure fate―with Woo-ju, a “born-with-a-bread-spoon” chaebol heir who even shares her ex’s name.
“Will you be my husband?” she blurts out. Smash cut to faux wedding photos: Woo-ju in a tux pulling Meri close at the waist; Meri in a gown resting on his shoulder―their newlywed cosplay looks all too real. Despite vowing, “No one will ever know,” the pair keep getting swept up in sweet, spur-of-the-moment physical touch, dialing up both the tension and the butterflies.
The teaser leans into the couple’s sugar-spark chemistry, from Woo-ju gently tucking Meri’s hair behind her ear to the two moving in sync like they’ve been married for years. If this is just the preview, their high-wire, heart-fluttering sham marriage promises to be a ride.
"Would You Marry Me" debuts Friday, Oct. 10 at 9:50 p.m. KST on SBS.
