Park Chan-wook's new film "No Other Choice" has crossed 170,000 advance tickets sold.

According to the Korean Film Council's presale tally on the 11th, "No Other Choice" leads with a 30.6% share and 171,000 tickets reserved, ranking No. 1 in both categories. With 13 days still to go before release, the pace suggests opening-day presales could near 70%, topping 300,000 tickets.

"No Other Choice" follows Mansu (Lee Byung-hun), an office worker who thought he had it all―until he's abruptly laid off. Determined to protect his wife, two kids, and the hard-won family home, he mounts an all-or-nothing campaign to get back to work.

The film premiered at the 82nd Venice International Film Festival, which wrapped on the 6th, drawing strong notices that have supercharged anticipation at home. It left without a trophy, but the chorus of raves from foreign press generated sizable buzz. Adding to the tailwind, starting on the 8th, 1.88 million additional theater discount vouchers (6,000 won off) were released―positioning "No Other Choice" as a prime beneficiary.

"No Other Choice" opens September 24.
