Actor So Ji-sub has signed on to star in SBS’ Friday-Saturday drama "Manager Kim", slated to premiere in 2026.
The upcoming series "Manager Kim" (written by Nam Dae-joong, directed by Lee Seung-young) follows an everyday family man who shatters his carefully guarded cover to find his missing daughter―risking everything to bring her home.
Based on the hit webtoon of the same name, a spin-off set in the PTJ Comics Universe that includes "Lookism," "Viral Hit," and "My Life as a Loser," the title shot to No. 1 on Naver’s Tuesday webtoon chart the moment it launched. The script comes from Nam Dae-joong, known for marrying big laughs with heart in "The Last Ride" and "Love Reset," while Lee Seung-young―whose nuanced touch shone in "Wonderful World," "Tracer," and "Voice 2"―directs.
So plays "Manager Kim," a mild-mannered employee at a mid-sized savings bank who, unbeknown to everyone, is a former cross-border black-ops operative and the father of Min-ji. A veteran of countless classified missions, he’s No. 1 on North Korea’s most-wanted blacklist―and a ticking time bomb whose existence must remain secret in the South.
Fresh off projects that flexed his action chops, the ever-suave star is poised to deliver both noir-leading-man intensity and down-to-earth dad warmth in "Manager Kim"―setting the stage for another career-defining turn in 2026.
“Arriving as SBS’ new Friday-Saturday drama in 2026, 'Manager Kim' pairs a rock-solid original with So Ji-sub’s vivid portrayal of an extraordinary father―poised to shake up the year,” the producers teased. “Please look forward to So Ji-sub’s standout performance in 'Manager Kim.'”
