Actor Park Sun-young is heading back to "Kick a Goal".
The Sept. 10 episode of SBS’ "Kick a Goal" will air the second GIFA Cup match between Phoenix Utd and FC Bulnabi―pitting the all-star legends’ squad against a refreshed FC Bulnabi led by rookie head coach Kim Young-kwang.
Formed by veterans who stepped away for parenting, careers, and health, Phoenix Utd is poised to unleash The Whirlwind at the GIFA Cup. Back in the lineup, the show’s “Unrivaled Ace” Park Sun-young set the tone before kickoff: “Phoenix is immortal. Of course we’re going to the final.”
Two weeks out from the match, Phoenix Utd gathered for their first training session. Ayumi―nicknamed “A-Shin”―was first to arrive and did a double take at the expanded goal frame. “What happened in the last two years?” she laughed. Touring the new trophy wall, she grew sentimental, reminiscing about her home team FC Top Girl: “I could cry.”
Soon after, Lee Young-jin, Eva, Park Sun-young, and Joo Myeong checked in, followed by Oh Nami and Kim Seung-hye of FC Gavengers, who joined to sharpen the team’s fitness and match rhythm. With seven legends finally in one place, all eyes are on what kind of chemistry they can unlock.
Tactics under “master strategist” head coach Choi Jin-cheul are also a storyline. To counter his former G-League pupils on FC Bulnabi, Choi is deploying Park Sun-young―now converted into a front-line striker―to spearhead an aggressive press. Anchoring the back, the Lee Young-jin × Eva × Joo Myeong trio promises a lock-tight defense, aiming to rattle Bulnabi with overwhelming balance on both ends.
Analyst Lee Young-pyo was impressed, noting, “Phoenix has a perfect blend of experience and mobility. In a short time, they’ve turned years of know-how into real cohesion on the pitch,” showering the squad with praise throughout. With savvy decision-making and veteran game management, Phoenix Utd’s form is turning heads.
The legends’ high-stakes showdown for Phoenix Utd’s pride airs Sept. 10 at 9 p.m. KST on "Kick a Goal".
