A couple from SBS Plus and ENA’s reality series "I Am Solo" is expecting their first child. Season 22 standouts Gwang-su and Young-ja, who became a final couple on the show and later married, shared they’re becoming parents one year into their marriage.
On Sept. 7, Young-ja announced the pregnancy on Instagram, posting a sonogram to share the news.
She explained that she began preparing for pregnancy in February with folic acid and workouts, and “good news arrived” after a trip to Hawaii in May. The baby’s nickname is “Kim Toma,” a playful blend of “Tomato” and “Red Horse,” hinting at a due date next March in the Year of the Fire Horse.
Young-ja added that she’s battled intense morning sickness―sometimes vomiting seven to eight times a day and needing IV fluids―but says it reassures her that the baby is healthy. “There was a time I thought kids weren’t in the cards for me,” she wrote, adding that appearing on "I Am Solo" ultimately changed that. “So many people cheered for us to have a baby, and thanks to all that support, ‘Kim Toma’ found us within two months.”
The pair tied the knot last October, shortly after their season wrapped.
