Jung So-min is keeping her rom-com hot streak alive with SBS’s upcoming series "Would You Marry Me."
Premiering in October, the new Friday-Saturday drama (written by Lee Hana; directed by Song Hyun-wook and Hwang In-hyuk) follows a pair who enter a 90-day sham newlywed arrangement to secure a grand prize: a luxury newlywed apartment. Fan favorites Choi Woo-shik and Jung So-min team up, promising rom-com chemistry to spare.
Jung plays Yoo Mery, a scrappy designer who proposes a fake marriage to Kim Woo-joo (Choi Woo-shik)―a man who happens to share the same name as her ex-fiancé―to keep that coveted apartment prize within reach. Expect peak lovable energy from Jung as she leans into Mery’s hustle and heart.
As the one-woman boss of her tiny studio “Meri Design,” Mery does it all―from drumming up business to hands-on execution. Jung, long hailed as a rom-com MVP for her sharp timing and undeniable charm, looks set to deliver another relatable, crowd-pleasing turn.
On Sept. 5, the "Would You Marry Me" team dropped new stills spotlighting Mery in full grind mode. In one scene, she conducts a presentation wearing a bright red crab mask and matching gloves for a crab festival pitch―flashing a megawatt, sales-ready smile that’s impossible to resist.
Other shots show her confidently walking a confectionery brand, Myeongsundang, through an ongoing project, and later, sitting at a small office desk with eyes sparkling―every inch the relatable small-business owner chasing the next win.
“Jung So-min is simply irreplaceable,” the production team says. “As the down-to-earth yet endlessly charming small-business CEO Yoo Mery, she’ll have viewers completely hooked.”
"Would You Marry Me" premieres this October on SBS.
