Suzy and Kim Seon-ho-led Disney+ original series "Delusion" is facing backlash after trash was left behind at a filming site on Jeju Island. Producer Showbox issued a swift apology and said the area has since been cleaned.
On the 27th, a social media user posted video to social media alleging, “They shot a drama and left trash in the forest―including cup sleeves from a fan-sent coffee truck.” The clip showed cups, plastic, and even butane canisters scattered across a wooded area in Jeju. Cup sleeves bearing actor Kim Seon-ho’s name, believed to be from a fan-supported coffee truck, appeared to have been left on-site, fueling speculation that the waste came from the production.
As the video went viral, the location was identified as a set for "Delusion".
Showbox apologized on the 28th, stating, “Filming wrapped late at night, and we failed to conduct a thorough sweep of the site in the dark. Once we became aware of the situation, we immediately cleaned the area and apologized to the relevant authorities.” The company added, “We sincerely apologize for not properly restoring the location after filming. We’ll take greater care moving forward.”
Set in 1935 Gyeongseong (the colonial-era name for Seoul), "Delusion" is a mystery drama following a cryptic woman, Song Jeong-hwa, and the painter, Yoon Yi-ho, who is commissioned to create her portrait. The series is directed by Han Jae-rim and stars Suzy as Song Jeong-hwa and Kim Seon-ho as Yoon Yi-ho.
