Jung Sung-il is taking office―on screen. "The Glory" star has been cast in the feature film ‘Handwritten’ (working title), playing a Justice Minister nominee.
‘Handwritten’ follows Seok-gyu (Jung), a bipartisan favorite tapped to become Justice Minister, as he preps for a confirmation hearing and is pulled into the truth behind a long-buried case tied to letters from the nation’s last death-row inmate, Sun-hwa (played by Park Ji-hyun).
In a narrative that jumps between eras, Jung will portray both the prosecutor who handled Sun-hwa’s case in 1997 and the present-day nominee, charting more than two decades of change with a tightly calibrated performance.
Known for his range across genres, Jung is expected to anchor the film with nuanced, grounded work that keeps the tension simmering.
Before that, he hits theaters on September 5 with ‘Murder Report,’ playing Young-hoon, a psychiatrist who is also a serial killer―promising a chilling turn that cranks up the dread.
‘Handwritten’ is slated to open in 2026.
