Kang Ji-su, Kim Yeo-myeong, and Lee Min-hong from the Netflix dating series "Better Late than Single" stopped by YouTube’s “The K-Star Next Door” and dished on what really went down after the finale.
On the episode, Kang Ji-su got candid about her on-screen love interests. “Honestly, Sang-ho was closest to my type. He’s the one I could actually see myself kissing,” she said, adding, “If I’d seen the private confessional interviews earlier, my final pick would’ve been different. I regret not choosing Sang-ho.”
Explaining her litmus test, she joked, “Before filming, my standard was simple: ‘Would I want to kiss him?’ Jae-yun looked so much like people in my family that he felt like a brother to me―so a kiss was off the table.”
“As for Sang-ho, he’s tall and has great presence. Not just me―my family liked him too. My mom watched and said, ‘Sang-ho’s the best one.’ Even after the show, she kept asking, ‘Are you texting Sang-ho?’” Kang Ji-su laughed, reiterating that seeing the hidden interviews earlier would’ve changed her final decision.
When host Jonathan asked if she’s still in touch with Sang-ho, Kang Ji-su smiled and admitted, “We are.”
On the show, Kang Ji-su ultimately became a final couple with Kim Seung-li, not Kim Sang-ho. Looking back, she said, “I went in really wanting to date, but it just didn’t translate to real life with Seung-li.”
Post-show attention has been intense. “My DMs blew up with messages and blind-date offers. A celebrity even slid into my DMs―someone I really didn’t expect,” she shared.
As a dance instructor, everyday life changed too. “Students would constantly ask, ‘So who did you pick in the end?’ which put me on the spot,” she said with a laugh. “What you see on TV isn’t everything―we’re all still figuring it out. I hope people can watch with kindness.”
"Better Late than Single" brings together men and women with no dating experience for a true “romance debut,” and has resonated with viewers thanks to its heartfelt, unfiltered stories.
