Netflix’s feature "Good News" has dropped its first character stills, teasing a crew of wildly distinctive players pulled into an audacious covert operation.

Set in the 1970s, the film follows a shadowy plan hatched by those determined to force a hijacked airliner to land―by any means necessary.

The newly released images spotlight a fixer known only as “Amugae” (Sul Kyung-gu)―a literal “Mr. Nobody” who quietly solves national crises―alongside Air Force First Lieutenant Seo Go-myeong (Hong Kyung), tapped for a secret mission, and KCIA Director Park Sang-hyeon (Ryu Seung-bum), who orders the hijacked jet to touch down on Korean soil, no exceptions.

Shuffling in and out of the KCIA in a battered coat and casual cap, the hunched, unassuming Amugae instantly raises the question: who is this man, and why is he the one called to clean up a catastrophe?

In the control room, Seo wears the weight of the mission, hinting that this reluctant key player might be the one to pull off the unthinkable. Park, flanked by bureaucrats and locked in on the action, leaves you wondering whether the operation is unfolding to his design. Adding to the stakes: Japan’s Vice Minister for Transport Shinichi (Yamada Takayuki), tasked with damage control, and Denji (Kasamatsu Sho), the cool-headed leader of a Japanese communist militant group who hijacks the plane in a bid to reach Pyongyang.

With heavyweights Sul Kyung-gu, the finely tuned Hong Kyung and the chameleon-like Ryu Seung-bum leading the way, the film promises a character-forward ensemble. They’re joined by Japanese standouts Yamada Takayuki―known to global audiences from Netflix’s "House of Ninjas" and "The Naked Director" as well as "Crying Out Love in the Center of the World" and "Train Man"―and Kasamatsu Sho, who’s showcased range across "Tokyo Vice" and "Gannibal." Their combined firepower amps up anticipation for "Good News".

"Good News" has been officially invited to the 50th Toronto International Film Festival’s Special Presentations section. Following its festival bow, the film premieres on Netflix on Oct. 17.
