Actor Uhm Tae-goo is stepping in as a one-day vendor for "The Big Issue" magazine.
On Aug. 29, Uhm will be near Seoul’s Jonggak Station, promoting and selling "The Big Issue" as part of “Bigdom” (a helper program that supports the magazine’s street vendors).
After donating his time as the January 2025 cover star and partnering with Big Issue Korea, Uhm volunteered for Bigdom to offer hands-on support to vendors working toward independence in challenging circumstances.
Back in February, he did the same near Gwanghwamun Station during a cold snap when the wind chill plunged to minus 18 Celsius (about 0 Fahrenheit). Portable heaters and winter gear were on hand, but Uhm chose to sell barehanded, saying he wanted to work under the same conditions as the vendors―an act that left a strong impression.
Big Issue Korea shared, “Even in February’s biting cold, Uhm Tae-goo’s Bigdom shift, filled with warmth, gave us all something we won’t forget. And now in August―when vendors are battling the searing summer heat―he’s once again committed to pitching in. We hope his kindness will feel like cool shade for every vendor out there.”
