Comedian Sung Hyun-joo, who has carried the heartbreak of losing her son, is expecting again five years later.

On the 20th, Sung shared on social media, "Week by week I was so anxious that I kept my growing bump under wraps ― and somehow I'm already nine months along." She added, "With one month to go, I want to waddle through it with a soft heart, soaking up all the love and congratulations coming our way."

In the photo she posted, Sung smiles warmly, capturing the tender, powerful moment of a mom awaiting baby No. 2.

Fellow comedians quickly chimed in with support. In a surprise video, Park So-young, Oh Na-mi and Kim Min-kyung were moved to tears as they offered heartfelt congratulations.

Sung married a businessman seven years her senior in 2011 and welcomed her son, Seo-hu, in 2014. After collapsing unexpectedly in 2018, he endured a long fight and passed away from sepsis three days before Christmas in 2020.

Reflecting on a January appearance on KBS1’s "AM Plaza," Sung said, "He had beaten sepsis twice before, but in the end, a mother’s intuition told me he didn’t have any strength left."

In 2022, she released the essay collection "How Are You," chronicling her son’s battle, and donated all royalties to a children’s hospital. In 2023, she wrote about sorting through the toys he had lovingly saved, sharing that she was learning to accept their farewell ― a message that moved many readers to tears.
