Disney+ original series 'Tempest' has dropped new character stills featuring Lee Sang-hee and Joo Jong-hyuk, who stand guard by Jun Ji-hyun.
'Tempest' follows Moon-ju (Jun Ji-hyun), a world-renowned UN ambassador, as she hunts for the forces behind an assassination attempt on a presidential candidate. Teaming up with Sanho (Kang Dong-won), a shadowy operative with no clear nationality who’s tasked with protecting her, she confronts a sweeping conspiracy threatening the Korean Peninsula.
On the 20th, the 'Tempest' team unveiled first-look images of Lee Sang-hee as Moon-ju’s aide Yeo Mi-ji and Joo Jong-hyuk as head of security Park Chang-hee.
From the straight-shooting CFO in 'Love Scout' to the exacting head nurse in 'Daily Dose of Sunshine' and the stoic yet big-hearted migrant worker in 'My Name Is Loh Kiwan,' Lee Sang-hee has proved her range again and again. As Moon-ju’s aide Yeo Mi-ji, she’s poised to steal scenes once more with her grounded charm.
Mi-ji is Moon-ju’s fiercely loyal right hand, having lived abroad with her since Moon-ju’s diplomatic days, forging an unshakable bond. She holds unwavering trust and respect for Moon-ju and is ready to follow her anywhere―no matter the danger.
Lee shared, "To capture someone walking toward an ideal, I even hand-copied our Constitution for inspiration. 'Tempest' is a project that makes me proud to be a part of it." Her words raise anticipation for the vivid, lived-in character work she brings to Mi-ji.
After breaking out as the scheming Kwon Min-woo in 'Extraordinary Attorney Woo' and carving out a distinct presence in projects like 'Trigger' and 'Frankly Speaking,' Joo Jong-hyuk unveils a new side as Moon-ju’s security chief, Park Chang-hee.
An elite who graduated from the police academy and became a star at the Cyber Investigation Bureau, Chang-hee takes over Moon-ju’s protection in the wake of the assassination attempt. As threats against her escalate, he tightens security―only to bristle when the newly appointed security team lead Sanho gets a little too close to Moon-ju.
"I trained with someone who actually guarded a president, learning a bodyguard’s bearing, stride, and 360-degree awareness," Joo said. "If I’ve shown a freer, more playful side before, this time I worked on a restrained, controlled performance." The role teases a fresh facet of Joo Jong-hyuk audiences haven’t seen.
'Tempest' brings together writer Jung Seo-kyung of the film 'Decision to Leave' and the series 'Little Women,' director Kim Hee-won of 'Queen of Tears' and 'Vincenzo,' and director Heo Myeong-haeng of the films 'The Roundup: Punishment' and 'Badland Hunters.' With a standout cast, A-list creators, and an unpredictable story on an ambitious scale, the Disney+ original 'Tempest' premieres Sept. 10 with three episodes, followed by two episodes weekly starting Sept. 17, for a total of nine episodes.
