Congratulations are pouring in as singer Kim Jong-kook announced he’s getting married, a milestone that comes in the 30th year of his career.

On the 18th, Kim shared a handwritten letter on his official fan cafe, opening with, “I’m getting married.” He continued, “This year marks my 30th anniversary. I didn’t drop the album I wanted―instead, I found my better half. I hope you’ll still celebrate and cheer me on. It took me a while to get here, but I’m grateful I finally am. I’ll do my best to build a good life.”

Over three decades in the spotlight, Kim has maintained a clean image and a steady career free of major scandals. Longtime fans who’ve rooted for him from the start are sending heartfelt congratulations and wishing him happiness.

The news also lit up the entertainment scene. On KBS Cool FM’s “Park Myung-soo’s Radio Show” on the 18th, Park introduced Kim’s hit “Lovable” and said, “Jong-kook’s getting married? Wow―congrats!”

Then, with his trademark deadpan, he added, “Why’s everyone getting married these days? It’s hard work,” drawing laughs from listeners. When a caller brought up fellow broadcaster Yoon Jung-soo’s marriage news, Park quipped, “Well, at least Ji Sang-ryeol hasn’t tied the knot yet,” keeping the bit going.

Rumors of Kim’s marriage first flared in April after reports surfaced that he had purchased a luxury townhouse-style villa in Nonhyeon-dong, Gangnam, for 6.2 billion won in cash. At the time, speculation swirled, but Kim chose not to address it directly.
