'No Other Choice', invited to compete at the 82nd Venice International Film Festival and the opening film of the 30th Busan International Film Festival, has released its second poster, showcasing the diverse charm of its characters.
'No Other Choice' tells the story of 'Mansoo' (played by Lee Byung-hun), a company employee who thought he had everything in life until he was suddenly laid off. To protect his wife and two children, and to save the house he worked hard to acquire, Mansoo prepares for his own battle towards reemployment.
The second poster, released on the 8th, captures the attention with 'Mansoo' at the brink of despair after his layoff, surrounded by a complex web of characters. Mansoo's expression, though stoic, hints at a firm resolve, sparking curiosity about his inner thoughts. The complex emotions crossing 'Miri' (played by Son Ye-jin), who becomes the pillar for her family in crisis, heighten the anticipation for the unpredictable story that the couple will face.
The poster also teases the drama to come with its diverse visuals: the paper mill foreman 'Seonchul' (played by Park Hee-soon) with a relaxed smile and the ironically threatening plant aimed at him; 'Beommo' (played by Lee Sung-min) seemingly sharing good news over the phone, oblivious to the mysterious hand behind him; 'Ara' (played by Yeom Hye-ran) dramatically expressing her emotions with a book titled 'The Best Husband'; and 'Sijo' (played by Cha Seung-won) holding a shoe box with a puzzled look. These elements promise a rich tapestry of drama from the characters.
Featuring a stellar cast, dramatic plot twists, beautiful mise-en-scene, solid direction, and a touch of black comedy, Director Park Chan-wook's new film 'No Other Choice' is set to premiere in September.
