The 'boy group powerhouse' Big Hit Music has unveiled the name of its highly anticipated new boy group after six years.
The team's name is CORTIS. They have officially kicked off their promotion ahead of their debut on August 18.
Big Hit Music launched their official social media channels at midnight on the 7th, revealing the team name CORTIS. 'CORTIS' is derived from the phrase 'COLOR OUTSIDE THE LINES', symbolizing the idea of "thinking freely beyond the standards set by the world."
The group consists of five members: Martin, James, Joo-hoon, Sung-hyun, and Gun-ho, all in their teens. They are a 'young creator crew' involved in co-creating music, choreography, and videos, gaining attention for their creative and independent activities even before their debut.
The way they revealed their team name was a bold move away from traditional methods. At midnight on the same day, they released a 'logo sound' video on TikTok, marking the first time their name was revealed. The video, produced using the composition software actually used by member Martin, featured a mystical sound as if opening a door to an unknown world, with the name 'CORTIS' appearing on the screen.
Additionally, a video capturing the members' candid moments in the studio was also released. The footage of the five members filming each other, laughing, and immersing themselves in their work in a space filled with sound equipment and keyboards truly reflects the unfiltered identity of CORTIS. Through this video, they personally delivered their first greeting and promoted their social media channels, clearly defining their 'self-producing' identity.
Meanwhile, CORTIS is set to debut on August 18. Participating in everything from songwriting, composing, choreography, to videography based on their own stories, they are poised to be Big Hit Music's next big act following BTS and TOMORROW X TOGETHER, capturing the global K-pop fandom's anticipation.
