Hong Jin-kyung recently appeared on Jeong Sun-hee's YouTube channel to disclose the divorce herself. She had avoided officially discussing the divorce but felt it was time to share her story.
She shared, "Things are okay now. Ra-el is doing well, and she's getting along with her dad too," conveying a calm update on her life post-divorce. She added, "The sad part is, we only found true friendship after becoming strangers to each other," revealing her heartfelt feelings.
According to close sources, Hong Jin-kyung and her ex-husband didn't face significant crises during their marriage but had minor conflicts due to differences in personality. Hong was known for her free-spirited and ambitious nature, whereas her ex-husband was quiet and gentle.
Amidst this, both deeply loved their only daughter and alternated traveling abroad to support her education, leading to physical distance. Eventually, they decided to focus on being dedicated parents rather than spouses.
Especially concerned about the potential confusion their daughter might face if the divorce was hastily revealed, they continued to live together for a while after separating. They are now committed to co-parenting and maintaining a harmonious relationship for their daughter's sake.
Hong Jin-kyung and her ex-husband married in 2003 and welcomed their daughter in 2010. Hong stated, "It wasn't anyone's fault; it was a choice to live our lives in different directions. He's still a good friend to me, visiting often and maintaining a good relationship with our families."
