The Streaming Fighters have taken down the Gavengers.
In the broadcast of SBS's 'Kick a Goal' on the 6th, the Gavengers faced off against the Streaming Fighters in a do-or-die tournament.
During the match, the Gavengers' powerhouse Kim Hye-sun returned to the game after more than a year, catching everyone's attention. However, her eagerness led to some hasty plays, prompting Coach Choi Seong-yong to have her take a breather on the bench.
The teams were neck and neck throughout. The first half ended in a stalemate, with neither team managing to score, leaving the audience wanting more.
As the second half kicked off, the Streaming Fighters focused on set pieces, a strategy that paid off. Scoring their first goal in 98 days, they took an early lead, setting a positive tone for the rest of the match.
They followed up with two more goals from set pieces. During this sequence, Kim Seung-hye scored an own goal, and Nada celebrated her debut goal after 455 days, drawing tears from the former captain of the Streaming Fighters, who was watching from the stands.
The game tilted completely in favor of the Streaming Fighters with a score of 3-0, prompting Coach Choi Seong-yong of the Gavengers to call for a timeout.
Coach Choi challenged his players to look into each other's eyes and asked if they truly had the will to fight. He encouraged those thinking of giving up, saying, "We've got to try. Don't give up," and "Let's show them what we've prepared."
Reinvigorated, the Gavengers returned to the game with renewed determination. Finally, in the 7th minute of the second half, they scored the goal they had been eagerly awaiting.
Kim Seung-hye's long-range shot was followed by a pre-planned celebration. The players dedicated their performance to the father of Park Jin-ju, who has been in a coma for two years, moving everyone watching.
Despite the Gavengers' comeback, the game ended 3-1, confirming their relegation match.
After the victory, the captain of the Streaming Fighters, Shim Euddeum, expressed her joy, "I'm so happy the G League ended today. There were disappointments, but winning like this feels incredibly fulfilling."
Meanwhile, the Gavengers' captain, Kim Min-kyung, remained optimistic, "I think we can muster more strength in the relegation match. We know all too well how sad and tough relegation can be, so we'll be able to pull through," she said, looking forward to the next game.
