The global K-animation sensation 'The King of Kings' has shattered expectations, amassing an audience of 700,000 just 12 days after its premiere.

According to the latest figures from the Film Promotion Committee's Integrated Computer Network on the 28th, 'The King of Kings' attracted 109,065 moviegoers nationwide on the 27th alone, securing the third spot at the box office. The cumulative audience count now stands at 730,144.

Since its release on the 16th, 'The King of Kings' has quickly climbed to the second spot among this year's animated film releases, just behind 'Attack on Titan: The Last Attack'. This achievement comes notably faster than last year's hit 'Heartsping : Teenieping of Love', which took five more days to reach the 700,000 mark. It's also closing in on the record set by 'Leafie, A Hen into the Wild', which holds the top spot in domestic animation history with 2.22 million viewers, with just a two-day difference in pace.

The question on everyone's mind is whether 'The King of Kings' can surpass the 1 million viewer milestone. Amidst a flood of blockbuster releases both domestic and international, such as 'The Fantastic Four: First Steps' and 'Omniscient Reader', maintaining its position within the top three at the box office is an impressive feat. With over 200,000 attendees during its second weekend alone, if it can keep up its current number of screens (around 800 to 900 nationwide) for the next 2 to 3 weeks, breaking the million mark is certainly within reach.

'The King of Kings' is a global hit K-animation that follows the journey of Charles Dickens, a renowned British author, and his youngest son Walter, as they travel back 2000 years into the greatest story ever told. Having premiered in North America last April, where it grossed $60 million, 'The King of Kings' continues its successful run in domestic theaters.
