Lee Byung-hun to Host the 30th Busan International Film Festival Opening Ceremony

The 30th Busan International Film Festival has announced actor Lee Byung-hun as the host for its opening ceremony.

On the 28th, the festival organizers shared, "Celebrating its 30th anniversary, the Busan International Film Festival is set to kick off its opening ceremony with actor Lee Byung-hun, marking a new leap forward." They added, "Having been connected with Busan since the 8th festival in 2003, Lee Byung-hun, as the first-ever solo male host, is expected to solidify the significance and prestige of the 30th festival."

Celebrating 35 years in the industry, Lee Byung-hun has established himself as a 'world-class' actor representing South Korea, seamlessly transitioning between the big screen and television with an unlimited range of acting skills and an irreplaceable presence. Recently, he has further propelled the global stature of Korean content with consecutive appearances in the Netflix series 'Squid Game'.

Lee Byung-hun has captivated audiences with his exceptional performances in films such as 'Inside Men' (2015), 'The Fortress' (2017), 'The Man Standing Next' (2020), 'Emergency Declaration' (2022), 'Concrete Utopia' (2023), and 'The Match' (2025), securing both critical acclaim and box office success, along with numerous acting awards. He is also set to unveil a new side in the upcoming film 'No Other Choice'.

Since making his Hollywood debut with 'G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra' (2009), Lee has left a strong impression in the global film industry with roles in 'RED 2' (2013), 'Terminator Genisys' (2015), and 'The Magnificent Seven' (2016). More recently, he has attracted global fans with voice acting roles in 'KPop Demon Hunters' (2025) and 'The King of Kings' (2025).

With the selection of Lee Byung-hun as the opening ceremony host, anticipation is high for the 30th Busan International Film Festival, which will take place from September 17th (Wednesday) to September 26th (Friday) at the Busan Cinema Center and surrounding areas.
